B. Sc Statistics
PSO 1: Form tables and frequency distribution for a given data set and analyze them using different formulas and diagrams
PSO 2: Apply mathematical tools to the theory of statistics
PSO 3: Evaluate probabilities for real-life situations and analyze discrete and continuous probability distributions and their applications.
PSO 4: Calculate Index numbers to measure the state of the economy and analyze time-series data for business forecasting and planning.
PSO 5: Analyze data using Excel, SPSS and R packages
PSO 6: Organize a sample survey and estimate the characteristics of the population
PSO 7: Construct a hypothesis and test it using parametric and non-parametric tools
PSO 8: Choose the best estimator for an unknown parameter of a given distribution and give a point and interval estimates
PSO 9: Design appropriate experiments for collecting relevant data in the fields of medical research, industrial quality control, agricultural studies, etc. and analyze the same. Construct regression models representing the relationship between a dependent variable and several independent variables.
PSO 10 : Compute different measures for analyzing data in the fields of Bio-statistics, survival analysis and life insurance.
PSO 11: Take up a career as a statistician in the government sector, quality control analyst in the manufacturing industry, a data analyst in firms dealing with business data analytics, etc.

M.Sc Statistics
PSO 1: Apply statistical theory to fit a suitable statistical model for a given data set, examine its properties and draw inferences.
PSO 2: Construct predictive models for a variable of interest depending on several other variables.
PSO 3: Organize sample surveys and estimate the parameters of a population.
PSO 4: Use SAS, R, Python, Matlab packages to analyze statistical data.
PSO 5: Design experiments for medical research, industrial quality control, agricultural studies, etc. and study the effect of several factors.
PSO 6: Construct life tables and analyze insurance data
PSO 7: Carry out analysis of survival data in medical research and other areas using incomplete data.
PSO 8: Analyze and bring out special and hidden features of high-dimensional datasets.
PSO 9: Pursue a career in Data Analytics applicable to various fields like business analytics, medical research, etc.
PSO 10: Take up a career as a professional statistician in ISS, pursue statistics specific jobs in UPSC / TNPSC, appear for competitive examinations like NET & SET to pursue teaching / research in Statistics, etc.

M. Phil Statistics
PSO 1: Apply mathematical/statistical techniques to find a solution to a given research problem.
PSO 2: Construct stochastic models for analyzing time-indexed data.
PSO 3: Use methods of estimation to propose estimators for new situations.
PSO 4: Develop hypothesis testing methods to test statistical hypotheses.
PSO 5: Produce a dissertation and publish papers to report the findings of the research carried out in the exploration of new problems.
PSO 6: Pursue a career in teaching Statistics and /or research towards a doctorate degree.
